Chapter: 329
Denton nodded, glancing at his watch. “I'm here to see a client. Being a few minutes late won't hurt. Glad running into you here today."
Kaitlin offered a strained smile. Before she could respond, Alan cut in.
“Mr. Gilbert, if you have a client to meet, you really should be on time."
Denton turned his attention to Alan as soon as he spoke.
“You're right. Have I... interrupted something?"
The air grew tense.
Kaitlin felt compelled to smooth things over. “Not at all. But Mr. Gilbert, your business should take priority. We can touch base another time."
"Okay."
With that, Denton got up and left. Once he was out of sight, Kaitlin let out a relieved sigh.
Alan looked at her with a cool expression. “What a coincidence! Kaitlin, are you planning to meet up with him later?"
Kaitlin gave a helpless smile. "I was just being courteous. Why do you have to take it so seriously?"
“You may think you're just being polite, but that's not how he sees it," Alan sneered. “Maybe he'll come over to chat with you before we finish eating."
Kaitlin rolled her eyes. "Don't be ridiculous. We just get along well."
"Really?"
Alan's expression darkened a bit, prompting Kaitlin to quickly change the subject.
Talking to a jealous man could be so tiresome.
After finishing her juice, Kaitlin flashed Alan a wink. "Shall we go? Didn't you promise to take me out today?"
“Well, shouldn't you say goodbye to Denton first?" Alan asked.
Kaitlin sighed heavily, stood up, and walked away.
Alan hurried after her, both remaining silent until they stepped into the elevator and the tension slightly eased.
“Alan, I think it's time we head home. I'm getting better. Once we're back, there won't be other men to spark your jealousy. Wouldn't that be perfect?" Kaitlin said in a mocking tone.
He was usually a bit jealous, but now he was openly showing his annoyance in front of her business associate.
Alan was acting too childish.
Alan remained silent. The elevator slid open, and he was the first to exit.
