Chapter: 343
Alan frowned upon seeing the anger on Kaitlin's face. "Calm down, Kaitlin," he said gently.
"I am calm!" Kaitlin snapped back. "Alan, if you're here to question me or cause trouble, please leave. I don't have time for games.”
Kaitlin turned to leave. Despite her outburst, the discomfort lingered within her.
Phoebe, witnessing the squabble, was taken aback. Her expression mirrored the shock of the assistant beside her.
They both struggled to understand Kaitlin's irritation.
Alan took a couple of steps toward Kaitlin.
“What exactly did you mean by that?" he asked, gently grabbing her arm.
"I meant exactly what I said. Do I need to repeat myself?" Kaitlin retorted sharply.
Their argument continued, with neither willing to give in.
Finally, Phoebe intervened. “Are you two at it again? Let's calm down,” she suggested. “It's really hot outside. Why don't we go inside and talk this over?"
"No thanks. I have work to do. I have nothing more to discuss with him", Kaitlin declined briskly, shaking off Alan's hand.
With that, she headed straight for the studio.
Alan's expression darkened. After a moment's hesitation, he turned and walked away.
Phoebe, torn, eventually decided to follow her best friend into the studio.
"Kaitlin, what's going on? Why are you so upset?" Phoebe asked as she caught up.
"I don't want to talk about it." Kaitlin dismissed the question with a wave of her hand.
“Look at you. You're pale with anger. Have some water, cool down, and then talk to me about it," Phoebe advised.
She picked up a small fan and sat beside Kaitlin, fanning her.
Seeing that Kaitlin remained silent, Phoebe began to recount various amusing stories to lift her friend's spirits.
After being consoled by Phoebe for a while, Kaitlin sighed deeply.
"It's not a big deal, but I feel like Alan treats me like I'm his possession. He sticks his nose in my every business, and he also gets jealous all the time," Kaitlin confessed, her expression troubled.
After a moment, she added, "I really don't like that."
Phoebe blinked a few times before asking, "Is this about Mr. Brooks?"
"You saw Denton today, right?" Kaitlin asked eagerly. "We're just friends. Alan overthinks everything. He even went as far as to sabotage our collaboration."
