Chapter: 374
"Well..." Seeing Kaitlin's troubled expression, Alan quickly grasped the situation. "Did you find this needle in the clothes?"

"That's right. If I hadn't been careful, our baby could have worn those clothes! Did you check all the other clothes we've got ready?"

Kaitlin suddenly recalled something and stood up, heading towards the nursery next door.

Alan pulled her back into an embrace. “Don't worry, I've inspected everything. It's all safe. Perhaps the designer just forgot to remove it. Grandma wouldn't hurt her great-grandchild. You know how excited she is about her first great-grandchild."

Kaitlin made a face but didn't protest. "So, what do you think happened?"

"Were these clothes sent from the Hewitt family's old house?"

Kaitlin nodded and said, "Yes, the butler delivered them himself. He mentioned that Beth had them prepared especially and wanted me to take good care of myself."

Alan's face grew stern. "I see. I need to visit Beth."

Kaitlin agreed. "Yes, please make sure everything is clear. I won't let anyone harm our child."

Protecting her child came naturally to a mother.

“Don't worry. Why don't you go downstairs and have something to eat? I'll handle this and be back soon. Try not to dwell on it." Alan soothingly ran his fingers through her hair. “If something like this happens again, call me right away. Don't deal with it alone; it's not worth the stress."

Kaitlin's expression softened, her irritation subsiding. "Okay, I'm heading out."

Alan hurried downstairs and drove directly to the Hewitt family's old mansion.

When he arrived, the butler greeted him. “Mr. Hewitt, your timing is unfortunate. Mrs. Hewitt has just gone to bed."

"About the clothes delivered today, did anyone else touch them?"

The butler appeared confused. "Mr. Hewitt, could you clarify what you mean?"

"Someone hid a needle in the clothes. If it wasn't placed there by the designer, someone must have placed it. You were the one who delivered them, didn't you check?"

The butler's face shifted as he quickly refuted any wrongdoing. “I personally inspected those clothes before delivering them. There's absolutely no chance anything was amiss. They were meant for your first child, after all."

Alan scoffed, "Are you implying that Kaitlin is lying?"

"No, no, that's not what I meant."

"Then think hard. Where might the mistake have happened?"

The butler pondered deeply, his expression turning grave, but he remained silent for a while.

Alan's patience waned. “If you can't recall anything, then we should review the surveillance footage. Show me all of today's footage. I'll look through it myself.”

Moments later, Alan was in the study, eyes glued to the screen.
