Chapter: 381
She was old and these shares wouldn't make her richer. It made more sense to transfer them to her son sooner rather than later.

This would hopefully prevent future conflicts.

“Miguel, I'll transfer these shares to you, but you must promise me something."

Miguel smiled. "What is it?"

Beth nodded and continued, "Once you receive the shares, avoid any conflicts with Alan, and don't do what you have done before. Alan has successfully led Hewitt Group for many years. Having these shares should ensure your wealth and safety. Don't make a mistake."

Beth spoke earnestly, truly hoping to get through to Miguel.

Miguel agreed casually, leaving it unclear whether he really took her words to heart.

"Mom, it's still early. Could we have the lawyer handle this today?" he said.

Seeing her son's eagerness, Beth felt a moment of hesitation. "Alan should be here as well."

“Why do you want him to come? Mom, aren't you planning to transfer your shares to me? You know Alan won't agree to that."

Miguel turned his wheelchair and was about to leave.

His slow pace was deliberate, meant to provoke a reaction from Beth.

“Miguel, wait. That's not what I meant."

"Stop it, Mom. I'm not trying to pressure you. But Alan is cruel to me. I genuinely need more leverage to defend myself. I was too worked up just now. I see why you're worried."

Miguel's tactical retreat finally prompted Beth to decide.

"Go and call a lawyer," she said to the butler.

Half an hour later, the lawyer arrived at the Hewitt family's old house to start drafting the share transfer documents.

Alan was informed quickly but chose to ignore it.

While Beth held significant shares, they weren't enough for Miguel to disrupt the balance of power within Hewitt Group.

Even if Alan confronted her directly, he couldn't sway Beth's decision.

In fact, it could even backfire.

Miguel's recent ordeal wasn't for nothing. He might have had his eye on Beth's shares for some time.

This incident merely provided him with an opportunity.

Alan ended the call, his expression somber.
