Chapter: 385
“Absolutely. Mr. Murphy, a word of advice-stay away from areas where you're out of your depth," Alan retorted with a commanding edge.
Alan went on, "Or you'll suffer a loss."
Shawn scoffed, clearly skeptical, "But we haven't seen the results yet, Mr. Hewitt. Aren't you celebrating a bit early? Talk to me when you've actually won the bid.”
Without missing a beat, Shawn turned to mingle with Denton.
From afar, Shawn and Denton appeared to be enjoying their conversation.
Kaitlin diverted her gaze, pondering, “Is he here just to stir trouble? I never saw him as that ambitious."
"It doesn't matter what his intentions are. I won't let him get this project," Alan declared.
Kaitlin smiled reassuringly and gently patted his arm. “Don't take it so hard. Don't let work spoil your mood. You're here for me today."
Alan looked at her, his expression softening. "Alright."
The event proceeded without a hitch.
Later, Denton invited the staff of Oasis Jewelry to a celebratory dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Kaitlin and Alan accepted the invitation with enthusiasm.
Initially, the atmosphere was somewhat tense, but it gradually became more relaxed.
Denton was approachable and didn't plan on lingering long at the party.
His recent schedule had been hectic, and he was in need of some downtime.
After raising a toast to Kaitlin and Alan, Denton prepared to leave.
"Kaitlin, you must be worn out from the afternoon. Mr. Hewitt, please make sure she gets home early."
Alan nodded, having already intended to do just that.
His reaction was slightly tinged with displeasure when he heard those words from Denton.
“Mr. Gilbert, will you be departing from Osewood tomorrow?" Alan asked.
“Yes, it's time for me to return," Denton replied.
“Have a safe trip then.”
With a smile, Denton replied, "Thank you, Mr. Hewitt.”
"I need to use the restroom. Denton, I look forward to our next meeting," Kaitlin interjected.
