Chapter: 406
Miguel leaned forward, irritation evident.
“The reputation of Hewitt Group has suffered significantly due to your personal controversies. Don't you think it's time for an explanation?" he challenged.
"Oh, I see," Alan responded casually.
Everyone exchanged glances, clearly annoyed by Alan's casual attitude.
"You were the one who called this board meeting, weren't you? As a shareholder, you've publicly maligned the Hewitt Group, and now you expect me to explain myself?" Alan challenged Miguel. “Don't you see the irony in that, Miguel?"
Miguel's face stiffened, his smile forced.
Alan tapped on the table for emphasis.
“If I had harmed Miguel in the way he suggests, he could simply call the police and have me arrested. There's no need for public spectacle. It's rather ironic that Miguel is the one calling today's meeting."
As Alan concluded, the atmosphere among the shareholders shifted slightly.
This was, after all, a private affair of the Hewitt family, not meant for public consumption.
The company's stock had dropped, affecting all the major shareholders.
They certainly had no interest in being pawns in Miguel's game, as there was nothing advantageous in it for them.
“So, what exactly is the purpose of this meeting?"
“We can't just be here to watch the two of you air your personal grievances, right?"
“If you're set on arguing with each other, at least let us clear out first. You can hash it out amongst yourselves."
Alan cast a glance at the attendees, his lack of surprise evident in his demeanor.
Despite Miguel owning a stake, he lacked significant influence. His men had already been dismissed by Alan.
Those who remained posed no threat.
Miguel often seemed too naive, always eager to jump at any opportunity, no matter how slim the odds.
Truly, he was a gambler at heart.
"In that case, I believe it's best if you all leave now. Our family matters should indeed be resolved internally."
Alan gestured dismissively, aligning with the consensus.
Miguel's face was flushed with anger, clearly reluctant to end the meeting so abruptly.
He signaled subtly to a few of his men, prompting one to challenge Alan's stance.
