Chapter: 409
Yet, no matter how furious he became, there was no turning back to what had been done.

Upon seeing the news, Shawn's brow furrowed and his expression darkened.

Reading those harsh comments made him feel sick to his stomach.

He had always known Miguel was no saint, but exploiting those smaller partners was downright despicable.

The Aston family had fallen for the same reasons that now plagued Shawn's thoughts. His heart raced as he recalled Miguel's involvement in the suburban development project.

Miguel was never one to play by the rules, a fact that only compounded Shawn's worries.

With this in mind, he called for his assistant to come to his office.

“Mr. Murphy, what can I do for you?" his assistant inquired.

“Check if Miguel interfered with the suburb project ten years ago,"

Shawn instructed.

The assistant, poised to act, queried further, “Should we contact those we've talked with previously?"

"No, listening to just one or two opinions won't suffice. We need to gather more to ensure the validity of the information," Shawn replied, dismissing the idea.

“I'll get on it immediately," said the assistant, understanding the urgency, before departing.

Shortly after, Miguel's call came through, his voice heavy with accusation.

“Mr. Murphy, do you enjoy sitting back and watching the chaos unfold? Since we're in this together, why aren't you doing anything about the current situation?"

Miguel knew he couldn't confront Alan alone.

Only with Shawn's support could he hope to stand a chance against him.

Shawn offered no help, which only deepened Miguel's irritation.

"Mr. Hewitt, while we do have a partnership, this is ultimately your family's business. How could I possibly intervene? Did you really use the Hewitt family's influence to sabotage other companies?"

“What kind of nonsense is that? That's just a smear fabricated by Alan. Do you actually believe such things?" Miguel retorted, his voice laced with frustration.

Shawn's expression grew stern, and his voice turned cold. "If it's all fabrications, why don't you clear your name yourself? Just produce some evidence to contradict the claims. I'm swamped with my own responsibilities. I don't have the capacity to sort out your family disputes."

With that, Shawn ended the call abruptly.

The dial tone echoed in Miguel's ears, fueling his fury to the point where he hurled his phone to the floor.

Though Shawn had appeared supportive, he withdrew his support at this crucial juncture.
