Chapter: 1056
“I'll search for someone who can help. If I can't find one, I'll apply for state legal aid." Bethany had reached out to multiple law firms, but none were willing to challenge Bates Group.

She realized that this path wouldn't be easy, but she hadn't thought she'd face pushback before even beginning her journey.

"I'll help you look, too! I'm sure we can find someone who fits the bill."

"Okay." Bethany nodded.

She wasn't going to let this get her down.

The evidence Jonathan gave her was rock-solid. Whether she had a lawyer or not didn't really matter; it was just a formality.

And if things didn't go as planned, she'd simply take the evidence to the police and the press.

There would be a solution out of this.

Jayson got up from the sofa and glanced outside. “It's getting dark. I should head out. Aimee, please take care of Bethany, and don't hesitate to call me if you need anything."

"Okay, bye, Jayson!"

Aimee and Bethany walked him to the complex gate, watching as his car drove away. Once his car disappeared into the night, they turned and headed back inside.

“Oh, thank goodness! If you'd told him I'm pregnant, he would have nagged me forever!"

Bethany shook her head. “There's no way I'd mention it without your say-so."

The news of the breakup would get out sooner or later, so telling him now didn't seem important.

Aimee gave a little smirk, her eyes narrowing slightly. Just as she was about to head back, she noticed a familiar silhouette in the distance.

Nikolas!

Why was he here?

Aimee didn't stop to think. She grabbed Bethany's hand, ready to run inside.

She did not want to encounter Nikolas. Regardless of his reasons for being there, she wanted to avoid him.

But could Aimee really escape from Nikolas?

He caught her wrist from behind within just a couple of steps.

“Aimee, don't run!"

At the sound of his voice, Bethany realized why Aimee had tried to run away.

She had been utterly confused until now.
