Nikolas raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sincerity in Jonathan's voice. “Really? You mean it?"

"Yeah," Jonathan replied quietly.

“Alright then!" Nikolas said with a nod.

He was about to open the door and get into the car.

Jonathan frowned and asked, “What are you doing?"

Why did Nikolas have to get in the car? Shouldn't he go to talk to Aimee?

"Jayson just went upstairs! How can I go see Aimee now?" Nikolas asked.

"Are you afraid of him?"

"Of course! You can confront him all you want, and no one will question you. But he's Aimee's cousin!"

Nikolas couldn't afford a clash with Jayson.

Jonathan didn't press further.

Bethany, on the other hand, had been contacting lawyers throughout the day, but there was still no progress.

"I tried calling, but you didn't answer, so I was worried about you two."

"Ah! I was in the kitchen and didn't hear my phone."

There was a missed call, but it was from just ten minutes ago.

Jayson had shown up so quickly.

What did he do, take a rocket?

"What's wrong with Aimee? Is she still upset about Nikolas?" Jayson walked in and settled on the sofa, asking about Aimee.

He always knew how to strike the right balance, keeping a respectful distance while showing he cared, so Bethany didn't feel intruded upon.
