Chapter: 1110
On the screen, Jonathan set the phone on a table and then stepped away.

Nola's half-visible face popped into view. She waved excitedly.

"Mommy! I miss you!"

Bethany responded without hesitation, "I miss you too, sweetheart!"

"Do you miss Rowan?"

"Absolutely! I miss both of you so much!"

Nola's eyes twinkled with another question. “Do you miss Daddy too?"

Bethany hesitated briefly before responding, “Yes, I do.”

Nola giggled. "Then you need to finish up your work quickly and come visit us!"

“Okay," Bethany agreed, nodding. She then turned her attention to Rowan, who remained quiet, simply staring at the screen.

“Rowan, why aren't you talking to me?"

"I think something's off between you and Dad," Rowan stated, an inquisitive look in his eyes.

Bethany was momentarily speechless.

Rowan's eyebrows arched as he glanced toward Jonathan, who wasn't on the screen. "You two used to be so in love, always kissing. Why is Daddy sitting so far away during our video chats?"

"That's because Daddy has work," Bethany replied hastily, not wanting the children to learn that she and Jonathan had separated.

She believed it wasn't healthy for their development.

Moreover, she harbored no resentment towards Jonathan. She didn't blame him for his mother's misdeeds.

“But Daddy's just sitting there, not working, Rowan countered, his observation sharp."

Again, Bethany found herself without words.

Jonathan, having overheard, stood and approached the phone.

"I was just lost in thought," he explained.

"Okay!"

Rowan accepted the explanation, his face lighting up with a smile.

Bethany continued to talk with the children for a while longer, only ending the call when Nola began to show signs of tiredness.
