Chapter: 1111
After hanging up, Bethany stowed her phone away, a spontaneous smile crossing her face.

Despite having joined the meeting, the day had unfolded beautifully.

She cherished the open conversation with her son and daughter, and the chance to keep seeing Jonathan's face. It truly felt like a splendid day.

Meanwhile, Jonathan tucked the children into bed before retreating to his own room.

He had just settled into his chair when a message from Brody popped up.

It contained a resignation letter from Bethany.

“Mr. Bates, this... Do I approve this or hold off? Maybe find a way to stall?" As the president's secretary, Brody had means to make things difficult for Bethany if needed.

All he required was a directive from Jonathan.

Jonathan pondered for a moment before responding with a brief message, “No need. Approve her resignation."

"So, I should let her go immediately?" Brody inquired.

If Jonathan agreed, Bethany could leave the Bates Group the very next day, without having to wait the usual six months.

"Yes," Jonathan replied.

He noticed Brody was typing again but ultimately, no message came through.

Then...

Reconsidering, Jonathan deleted his last message and sent another "Let her start the resignation waiting period tomorrow. It's six months."

"Got it, Mr. Bates," Brody replied.

Jonathan could almost feel Brody's tension dissolve.

He wanted to smile at that, yet he found himself unable to.

Meanwhile, Nikolas had finally secured the marriage certificates he'd been after.

On his way back, he couldn't stop checking them, repeatedly sliding them into his pocket only to pull them out again.

Aimee watched his childish antics, likening him to a toddler in her mind. Yet, she knew too well his other side — fierce, almost devilish.

She couldn't erase the memory of his icy stare when he had snatched her phone, almost as if he was about to smash it.

"You are finally mine!" Nikolas declared, pulling Aimee close and brandishing the certificates before her.

“Give me mine," she demanded, reaching out.
