Aimee paused before responding, "Okay, I'll give him a call."

As Aimee was about to hang up, Bethany quickly asked, "Are you going to Jayson's birthday tonight? If not, I'll need to let him know I can't make it either."

"Oh, don't worry! I'll be there." Aimee chuckled. "I'm not leaving you alone in an awkward situation. Even if my cousin doesn't invite me, I'll still show up! But.."

“But what?"

“I'm starting to have morning sickness. If I see my cousin, I might not be able to hide it."

Even her parents didn't know about her pregnancy.

Bethany listened without speaking.

"You'll need to calm him down. I'm afraid he will scold me," said Aimee.

Bethany thought for a moment before responding calmly, “Aimee, avoiding the issue won't solve anything. You should bring Nikolas and explain everything. Nikolas has a way with words, and he'll need to win over your family eventually. It's better to address it sooner rather than later."

After all, Aimee's parents would eventually find out her pregnancy.

Nikolas would have to deal with everything, no matter what.

"Ugh, you're right." Aimee sighed. "I just want to avoid it for now."

"Don't avoid it. Settling things sooner will help you focus on your pregnancy. If you put it off, it'll just be more of a hassle Later on."

"Yeah, you're right. I'll see you tonight and talk it over with Nikolas."

“Okay, see you tonight."

After hanging up, Bethany breathed a sigh of relief.

If Aimee didn't attend, she would have had to come up with an excuse to decline as well. The idea of celebrating Jayson's birthday alone was far from appealing.

She looked up and saw she had arrived at the business registry.

As she got out of the car, her phone beeped with a notification from Brody.

Concerned that it might be something urgent, she quickly checked the message.

It was a photo. Jonathan was in the hospital, receiving an IV drip.

Was Jonathan sick?

In the photo, Jonathan was lying in a hospital bed, his eyes shut and his complexion ashen.

It was clear that Brody had snapped the picture covertly.
