Chapter: 1154
Godfrey dismissed it with a wave of his hand. "Whatever. I don't care about what happened before. Right now, I need to appeal to our son! You need to think carefully about what to tell him. If he stays out of this, handling Bethany will be no problem."
“He's not even in Floria. How am I supposed to speak to him?"
“I'll figure out a way to bring him back."
Godfrey understood that Bethany was serious this time. Ignoring the situation was no longer an option. He had hoped his son would lose interest in Bethany, but now the court was involved, insisting on cooperation for the investigation. With it escalating to a criminal case, consequences were unavoidable, and dodging them was not an option.
As Bethany returned from her meeting, she noticed Aimee at her office door.
"Aimee?"
"Bethany! Surprise!" Aimee walked over and took her arm. "Nikolas has an important meeting today, and Jonathan insisted him to attend, so he couldn't get out of it. He didn't want me sitting at home all bored, so he brought me along."
Bethany led her into the office and promptly guided her to the sofa.
"You're pregnant and suffering from intense morning sickness. You shouldn't be moving around too much!"
"I'm okay! You managed work even when you were pregnant with twins. Compared to you, I'm living the life of luxury, almost to the point of being useless!"
“Why compare? My circumstances were different, and I didn't have the same support."
Bethany didn't enjoy reminiscing about her pregnancy.
Those were tough times, and she preferred to keep them in the past.
"Alas." Aimee shook her head, stretching out on the sofa and crossing her legs. “Did you hear what my cousin told Nikolas?"
Bethany was surprised. “About me?"
“Yep! He's trying to persuade Nikolas to turn against Jonathan."
Bethany was left speechless.
“Why hasn't my cousin let go after all these years? I have to admit, I'm quite astounded!"
Aimee had thought he had moved past this.
But then again, it wasn't all that surprising.
Aimee had foreseen that if the situation between Bethany and Jonathan's mother escalated, her cousin would see it as an opening for himself.
“Aimee, what should I do?"
Bethany felt completely uncertain about how to deal with Jayson.
She had exhausted all her words with him, declined his advances repeatedly, and found it impossible to completely cut ties without appearing rude.
