Chapter: 1159
Nikolas smiled at Bethany. "Jonathan will be done in Ferindel in three days and should be back soon."

Bethany paused at his words.

Noticing her reaction, Nikolas suggested playfully, "How about I ask Jonathan to bring Rowan and Nola along, and we all head to a resort for some fun? The kids would love it! We could go to the one in Westsilver. You know that place well, Bethany. It's your project, after all!"

Aimee clapped her hands in excitement. "That's a great idea! I've missed the kids terribly."

Bethany pursed her lips, looking down. "You all go ahead. I'm swamped with work."

"You don't miss the kids?"

"I do miss them. I'll visit Jonathan to see them," Bethany replied.

The thought of going to the resort, however, meant spending uncomfortable time with Jonathan-her ex-husband. Things like sharing meals and deciding where to stay would just be too awkward.

Nikolas and Aimee were inseparable as a couple.

But for her and Jonathan, who were divorced, the situation could lead to uncomfortable moments.

“Bethany, please don't say no!" Aimee grasped Bethany's hand, her voice pleading. “When's the last time we all went out together? I won't have much free time once the baby arrives. Please, spend some time with us."

“But I..."

“Do you still have feelings for Jonathan? Is that why you can't bear to be around him? Are you worried you won't be able to control your emotions?"

Bethany found herself at a loss for words.

Nikolas squinted, smiling slightly. "If that's not the issue, why not join us? It would be good for the kids to spend more time with both their parents, wouldn't it?"

Nikolas certainly knew how to hit a nerve.

Bethany's expression turned sour, and she averted her eyes.

Aimee elbowed him, signaling him to cease.

Despite the earlier discomfort, Aimee skillfully maintained the flow of conversation during the lunch, ensuring it didn't lapse into awkwardness.

Once they had finished eating, Nikolas drove Bethany back to her office.

As she waved goodbye and exited the car, Nikolas couldn't help but probe once more. “Bethany, are you heading to the resort or not? If you are, I need to make arrangements."

Aimee attempted to cover his mouth, but her effort was in vain.

Bethany stopped, turned back, and replied, “I'll consider it. If I decide to go, I'll inform Aimee."

"Alright! I'll await your decision."
