Chapter: 1168
She pondered whether Brody might have amalgamated the flowers intended for all project managers and directed them her way.
If she took them home after work, she would surely become the talk of the forum once again.
Today was Nikolas' day off; he did not need to attend the company.
Therefore, he and Aimee opted to visit her parents.
Confronting what was inevitable seemed preferable to continuous anxiety.
As they approached her parents’ neighborhood, Aimee grew increasingly anxious, her palms slick with sweat.
"Are you ready for the beating?" Aimee asked in a low voice, despite them being alone in the car.
“Sure, as long as your dad steers clear of my face or lower body."
Nikolas managed a chuckle, striving to maintain a light demeanor amidst the tension.
The wrath of Aimee's parents was imminent. Given Aimee's pregnancy, their anger would bypass her and land squarely on Nikolas.
Nikolas had even donned thicker apparel, hoping it might soften any potential blows.
“I'm afraid my dad might kill you," Aimee half-joked.
"That's unlikely, right?" Nikolas replied, his hand resting on her still-flat belly. "Would they really allow their grandchild to be fatherless?"
Aimee rolled her eyes. "You're still in the mood for jokes?"
"What else can I do? Would shedding tears make your parents feel any better?"
Aimee no longer wished to argue and simply leaned her head against the car window, releasing a deep sigh.
“Alright, if you're really that anxious, you can wait here while I go up. After I've faced the storm, I'll call you to come up. How does that sound?"
Aimee turned to look at him. "Are you serious?"
Nikolas nodded vigorously. “Absolutely. But I know you will stand by ny"
“Then you can face them on your own."
Nikolas was visibly shocked.
"I'm truly terrified of facing my parents. Just thinking about it fills me with dread," Aimee admitted. “In their eyes, I'm supposed to have broken up with you. And now, I'm not only bringing you home but also have to break the news that I'm pregnant."
She wished she could just fast-forward through this part of her life.
Despite her trepidation, they reached the apartment complex.
