Chapter: 119
"I'm only here for a short while. Once I find a suitable place, I'll move out," Bethany clarified, keen not to impose on anyone for too long.

She worried that if she stayed with Aimee too long, Aimee would end up helping her significantly, and she might not be able to repay that kindness.

"No way! You have to stay with me!" Aimee pouted, clearly upset with Bethany's plan.

Suddenly, Jayson's gaze landed on Bethany's face. "Bethany, your face.."

At that, Aimee turned to look at Bethany's face, her eyes widening in shock. "Oh my goodness! What happened to you? Did your mother hit you again?"

"No, no. I injured myself this time," Bethany said, embarrassed, covering her wound with her hand. It was clear she didn't want to delve into the details.

Aimee seemed poised to challenge Bethany's claim, but Jayson tugged at her discreetly, signaling her to let it go.

"Let's head up. I'll help you with your stuff. Aimee mentioned that today is your housewarming. I'll buy you dinner to celebrate."

“Yay! Jayson, you're the best! Come on, Bethany. Let's head upstairs!"

Bethany nodded and followed them.

She instinctively pulled out her phone.

There was still no message from Jonathan. There were no calls or updates about him either.

But Brody had mentioned that Jonathan had called this morning, so he was awake. He just didn't want to talk to her.

That made sense.

She wasn't someone significant. Why would Jonathan reach out to her right after waking up from the car accident?

In the VIP ward at the hospital, the doctor was busy changing the dressing on Jonathan's wound.

Fortunately, his face hadn't sustained much damage. He had hit his head, resulting in a mild concussion. His arms and legs bore scratches of varying severity.

“Where's my phone? Hand it over." Jonathan grimaced as the applied medicine stung his wound.

Nikolas handed the phone to him. He watched as Jonathan checked his messages with Bethany. Jonathan then read Bethany's most recent message.

“My mother is really fragile right now. Please, don't come!"

"You can't change the fact that she doesn't care about you, no matter how often you check her messages," said Nikolas.

Hearing this, Jonathan looked up at Nikolas, and the look of distress on his face was alarming.

Nikolas recoiled slightly. "I'm just being honest. She was clearly feeling guilty, so she didn't want you there. I've sent you the surveillance footage from the hospital corridor. She told others the man she brought was her husband. Jonathan, has she ever introduced you to her mother like that?"

Clearly not.
