Chapter: 125
A familiar woman answered. Bethany had worked with her on the SNS project. "Hello, Bethany. Maddie has joined Mr. Bates on a business trip, so she's unable to sign and stamp the documents right now. I'll let her know, and she should review them later."
“Okay," Bethany murmured. So they went on a business trip together.
“Um... Didn't Maddie just undergo surgery?"
Bethany recalled that Jonathan had taken Maddie to the hospital.
“Yes, she is so committed. She truly deserves her position as the chief lawyer at Bates Group."
Bethany realized she hadn't misunderstood.
Maybe she shouldn't have asked.
Hanging up the phone, Bethany massaged her temples and glanced at the take-out bag on her desk.
She had momentarily entertained the wild notion that Jonathan had arranged for Brody to buy her the toast. That was absurd.
It wasn't until noon that Bethany finally stopped typing and let out a sigh of relief.
She glanced at her phone and unlocked it.
There were no new messages.
Her chat with Jonathan was the third one on the list, and it ended with the last message she had sent him.
Bethany suddenly wished she could see if Jonathan was online.
But even if she knew he was online, what would she say?
Then, there was a knock at the door.
Bethany looked up to see Brody standing there.
"Keep an eye on Creation Group in Canbidge recently. They've been aggressively acquiring assets this year, mainly for new technology development. Mr. Bates is on a business trip related to this. Our company is looking to invest in a promising listed company through a private additional offering.”
“Okay," Bethany responded. She immediately turned to her computer and started to research Creation Group.
Brody watched her dive into work and smiled wryly. “There's no rush. The Zucron Company project has been finalized, and the project is underway. You've also contributed significantly to the SNS project. You don't have to worry about your bonus this year."
"Mr. Bates promoted me to the head office for further training. It's my responsibility to contribute more to the company."
Bethany also found that immersing herself in work helped distract her from other thoughts.
"It's excellent that you're so dedicated, but remember to look after your health. In our line of work, it's a marathon, not a sprint,"
Brody advised. Just then, his phone rang.
