Chapter: 145
Bethany found humor in her words.

She sometimes envied Aimee's carefree attitude but acknowledged her clear and liberated way of living.

“Aimee, I appreciate your concern, and Jayson is a great guy. But I'm not ready for a relationship right now."

“I'll tell him to wait! You're going to settle down someday." Aimee grabbed her arm, swaying it. "I just want you to be my family!"

Bethany responded earnestly, “No matter what the future holds, you're already like family to me."

She felt overwhelmed with her current troubles and not ready to think about relationships, but she wasn't giving up on sorting out her life.

She believed brighter days were just around the corner.

That night, sleep was elusive for Bethany, but she consoled herself with the thought of catching up on rest during her flight the next day.

Early in the morning, Brody picked her up, causing her some embarrassment.

“I could have gotten to the airport on my own. You didn't have to come."

"I was on my way here anyway." Brody loaded her Luggage and briefed her on their schedule. "You don't have to join the first day's negotiations. Axel and I will manage."

Bethany secured her seatbelt and asked curiously, "So, what will I be doing?"

"Actually, there's not much planned for you." Jonathan specifically requested her presence. Brody couldn't say no. "Could you pick up Mr. Bates from the airport on Tuesday? His flight arrives at 10 p.m."

At the mention of this, Bethany hesitated before asking, "Can I skip it? I'm not familiar with Canbidge."

"Don't you want to be credited for the project?"

She definitely did, but...

“If it's really inconvenient, then never mind. That way, no one will think I'm using my connection with Mr. Bates to get ahead. There might be rumors in the company, and it wouldn't be good for his reputation."

Brody smiled. "Do you really think people at our company have the time to indulge in gossip?"

His point was clear. Those who engaged in spreading rumors were usually from the smaller branches, like Ensson Corporation.

While some head office employees might follow the chat groups, very few actually participated in spreading rumors.

"Making it to the head office of Bates Group is a _ huge accomplishment. The competition is fierce, and the company always looks to replace those who don't measure up. No one has the luxury to waste time on gossip."

Bethany reflected on her own experience. At Ensson Corporation, she at least had weekends off. Since moving to the head office, however, her days have been filled with endless overtime.

Bethany knew if she relaxed even slightly, many would eagerly take over her position.

"Don't fret. If you're innocent, what are you afraid of? Besides, Mr. Bates doesn't seem to care," Brody said.
