Chapter: 147
This was the first time he asked Bethany something unrelated to work.

Bethany pondered briefly and replied, "Well, pretty much every girl at school..."

She vividly recalled how Jonathan received so many love letters that they wouldn't fit on his desk. So many ended up on hers instead. She even considered asking the teacher for a new desk mate because it was disrupting her studies.

Later, Bethany decided against telling the teacher that she wanted a new seatmate. She always made an effort not to inconvenience others.

The teacher had been kind to her, and she didn't want to seem picky about her desk mate.

“Were you included?" Brody glanced at Bethany.

Bethany shook her head. "No, not me. In junior high, I had to work mornings at a restaurant and nights at a cafe. I was even busier back then than I am now."

Maybe that was why the teacher had placed her next to Jonathan.

Other girls found it impossible to concentrate with Jonathan next to them.

"What? How old were you in junior high?"

"No matter my age, I needed the money." Bethany shrugged off the weight of her challenging past, feeling fortunate to have overcome it rather than being stuck in childhood sorrow.

Focusing on her tough upbringing wouldn't change anything. It would only worsen her current situation.

Brody looked at Bethany with growing admiration.

“Keep at it. You'll carve out your path in the industry."

“DT will!"

Bethany held on to that thought.

The plane landed at Canbidge Airport. Brody had arranged for early pickups, which whisked them straight to the hotel.

Brody didn't waste any time; he immediately got to work.

After setting down her luggage, Bethany unpacked quickly. With not much else to do, she wandered over to the window to take in the view.

It was absolutely stunning.

The towering skyscrapers stretched before her, a reminder of the wealth she couldn't afford.

Bethany glanced at her phone and saw a message from Aimee.

“Bethany, I noticed you seemed uneasy when you talked about that guy. I have to say it again. Don't fall for him; you'll only get hurt in the end!"

Was she falling for him?
