"Don't worry. He won't blame you," Bethany reassured him with a sigh.

"I just think that being transferred from Bates Group to EverTrust Investments has already put you at a disadvantage, and now you've been reassigned as an assistant. It's not fair. I can't stand by and watch you get demoted and take a pay cut just to make things easier for me."

Who would accept such a position, much less leave a company that everyone dreamt of joining like Bates Group?

To Bethany's surprise, the assistant shook his head vigorously. "I'm not quitting Bates Group. I'm on a paid secondment. Working at EverTrust Investments isn't tiring. I get off work early and draw salaries from both EverTrust and Bates. I don't feel wronged at all!"
