Chapter: 312
Nikolas said. His years of experience in relationships made him know better than to take her word for it.
“What then do you think is going on?" Bethany asked.
“I genuinely don't know," Nikolas replied honestly.
“Then it is just as I said. We are just not compatible."
Nikolas said nothing.
Bethany made to push open the door when by some unfortunate chance, the doctor who had done her pregnancy test walked past.
Bethany wasn't prepared for that and froze in shock.
“Hey, aren't you Bethany?" the doctor said as her face lit up in recognition. She remembered Bethany because she had come alone and she was quite beautiful.
Her kind of beauty needed no further embellishments.
People with such level of beauty always left a lasting impression on those they met.
Bethany, frightened, stood there like a deer caught in a headlight.
Sensing her distress, Nikolas nodded and said, “Yes, she's Bethany.”
“I knew it. I couldn't possibly forget this face. Are you the husband?" the doctor asked, glancing at Nikolas.
"No, I'm not," Nikolas hurriedly said.
He couldn't possibly claim to be her husband as it would attract severe repercussions from the guy inside.
“My apologies. I thought you guys were a couple,” the doctor said, embarrassed. "That reminds me, have you had time to talk things over with your husband? The child..."
"Doctor!" Bethany interrupted abruptly, pulling the doctor aside. "I have something urgent to attend to right now. I'll come back to see you when I have time, but I need to go."
The doctor, taken aback by her sudden urgency, nodded dumbly and left, wearing a puzzled expression.
Meanwhile, Nikolas strolled over, causing Bethany's heart to race with anxiety.
Thankfully, he didn't find out...
Nikolas asked casually, "What did she just say? I didn't quite understand it."
"Nothing much. I had a health check-up earlier, and there were some concerns. The doctor suggested I come back for a follow-up."
Nikolas was skeptical. "Why did she suggest that you discuss it with your husband?"
“Why do you need to know that?" Bethany found him irksome, considering they weren't particularly close. and he was extremely nosy.
