Bethany affirmed with a smile before observing him depart.

Entering her office in high heels, her first action was to dial Goldwald Company's vice president.

"Ryan, I've decided to withdraw from the Westsilver resort project."

There was a pause on the other end before Ryan Blakely responded, "Did I hear that correctly? Didn't you sign up for this project?"

"Yes, I did..." Had Bethany not crossed paths with Brody, she wouldn't have opted to step back from this project. But now that she had, she needed to disengage. "There's an urgent matter at hand. My daughter isn't accustomed to being without me; I must return. If I delay, it will only consume more time. Therefore, I believe withdrawing is the best course of action."

“How about this? I'll arrange a house in Westsilver for your husband and daughter. What do you think? The project will take some time, and the scenery here is delightful. Think of it as a company-sponsored vacation; all expenses will be reimbursed by the company."

Ryan believed that Bethany was the ideal candidate at present.

She displayed diligence and dedication, making her the perfect choice.

Given the project's significance, especially with the investor being a branch of Bates Group, perfection was essential.

Bethany didn't give up. "But..."

“Bethany, if there's anything specific you need, just let me know. I'm open to discussing options, but your involvement is crucial for this project."

Bethany raised her hand, brushing her brow thoughtfully. “Could I ask to avoid direct interaction with the investor?"

“Why's that?"

“I have a history with Bates Group, and I'd rather not revisit it."

She found herself blending truth with a bit of fiction to justify her request.

Ryan chuckled. "No need to stress over that. We're just collaborating with GrandFuture Investment. Bates Group has its hands full lately, so they won't be dispatching anyone to reach out to us."

Despite Ryan's reassurance, Bethany couldn't shake her worry about encountering Jonathan. Yet, what Ryan said next pushed aside her concern.

“I heard the CEO of Bates Group is tying the knot soon and has been overseas, hence only a personal secretary from their head office is checking on this project."

Bethany was surprised.

Jonathan was getting married?
