Chapter: 354
Bethany asked, raising an eyebrow. "We haven't approached you since you rejected my proposal last time."

The resident was rendered speechless.

Bethany stood her ground, her confidence and authority clear from years of hard work and experience.

"Will you leave on your own, or do we need to have you arrested for disturbing the peace? Your choice." After saying that, Bethany gave Colt a hint with her eyes.

Colt caught on immediately. "Hand me my phone."

“What are you doing with your phone?" the resident asked, now frightened.

"Calling the police, of course! Ms. Holt gave you options, but I'm not that patient. You've already disrupted our evening. Do we really have to keep dealing with you here? We're not going to waste more time on this nonsense."

"Mr. Flores, please do me a favor and give him a chance." Seeing that her ploy was working, Bethany gave the resident a look, signaling him to leave.

The man left in a hurry, and Colt's expression shifted from anger to joy. “Ms. Holt, you're amazing!"

“What's amazing about me? He only wanted money. A little bluff was enough to scare him off." Bethany glanced at her watch. "I must go. Someone is waiting for me."

Seeing that she was in such a hurry, Colt smiled knowingly and asked, "Did your husband come to Westsilver?"

"Yes," Bethany said, nodding. "He can't stay long, so I'm leaving now."

"Alright then. Go ahead. Let's have dinner and get to know each other better when we have time."

Bethany nodded politely and left in a rush.

She had always claimed to be married to most people she met, for two main reasons. One, she had a child. If people knew that her child didn't have a father, they would speculate about his identity, possibly involving Jonathan.

And two, it provided a convenient excuse to reject advances from men at work. She didn't have the time or patience to deal with those people. ALL she wanted was to do her job well and earn money. She had no room for anything else.

After getting in the car, Bethany called Aimee. “Where are you?"

“At the night market! Nola and I are at this small stall for acrobatics. Are you done with work?" Aimee was in a noisy area and had to shout for Bethany to hear her.

Bethany had only been to the night market once before, so her memory of it was vague.

"Yeah. I'm heading there now. Keep your phone with you. I'll call if I can't find you guys."

"Okay!"

After hanging up, Bethany took a deep breath and started the car.

The night market in Westsilver buzzed with activity. It was the only place open for night owls after all the other shops closed.

When Jonathan arrived, he found that the crowd was sparse, since it wasn't the weekend.
