Chapter: 356
"Understood, Mr. Bates."

Jonathan redirected his attention and moved against the crowd's current.

The driver, diligent in his role, outlined the local attractions of Westsilver. "You can explore the mountain in the morning; it's cooler then, and the views from the summit are spectacular. Later in the afternoon, I'll take you to a renowned restaurant for a delightful meal."

"Sounds good." Jonathan settled into the car, nodding his approval.

He hadn't taken a vacation in years. Now, with unexpected free time, he was unsure how to fill it. Since he lacked ideas, following the driver's suggestions seemed like a reasonable plan.

As the engine hummed to life, the car slowly departed from the bustling night market.

Stopped at a red light, the driver engaged Jonathan in a Lively conversation about local customs, speaking with genuine enthusiasm.

Jonathan listened intently, occasionally nodding in agreement.

ALL of a sudden, Jonathan caught side of the driver's face of the adjacent car, causing him to freeze as adrenaline surged through him.

That face. Jonathan would never forget it, unmistakable as it was.

It belonged to Bethany.

It was her.

The person he had tirelessly sought was right here before him!

Anticipating the traffic light about to change in three seconds, Jonathan asked the driver, "Do you see the black Audi on the right?"

"Yes! This is the newest model." Perplexed, the driver believed he was discussing the vehicle.

Jonathan demanded, "Go for it."

“Pardon? What do you mean?"

"Just hit it. I'll buy you a new car."

Bethany had no inkling of the misfortune looming ahead.

By evening, Westsilver was nearly empty, yet traffic lights seemed plentiful.

She rushed to the night market, encountering over ten red lights on the way, which was frustrating. But to top it off, she was struck by an inattentive driver.

Bang!

Suddenly, there was a loud bang. Bethany heard the grating noise of metal, felt the car shudder, and saw the dashboard light up with a malfunction indicator.

Speechless, she got out of the car and glanced in the rearview mirror.
