Chapter: 358
She had been using Aimee's phone number all this time.
“Do you want me to dig deeper into Aimee's background? We might uncover some clues," Brody suggested, remembering that Aimee was Bethany's friend.
But he was confused as to why Jonathan brought up the topic of Bethany all of a sudden.
Hadn't he come to Westsilver to move on from her and seek a fresh start?
"I saw her," said Jonathan.
"What?"
"I saw Bethany."
At the night market, the crowd had mostly cleared, and Bethany had just arrived.
Luckily, Aimee was lively, and with her, Nola had a good time.
“Why are you so late? Why didn't you answer my calls? I was worried something happened to you."
"Nothing serious. My car got hit, and I was sorting out the compensation, which is why I couldn't check my phone."
Aimee looked at her in surprise. "You were involved in a car accident? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. The car took some damage, though."
"That's alright! Thank God you're okay."
With a smile, Bethany reached out to hold Nola and kissed her on the cheek. "The driver compensated me well. He gave me a bank card with fifty thousand dollars and told me to get the car fixed."
“Fifty thousand dollars? He must be rich! Was he handsome?" Aimee's eyes widened, eager for details.
After all, it was just a minor scratch. Fifty thousand dollars seemed excessive.
"ALL you can think about is handsome men! The guy who talked to me was probably the driver. His boss stayed in the car." Bethany recalled the figure and remembered only a vague outline. Her intuition told her he was tall. "That boss must be someone important. He didn't even get out of the car after the accident."
"It's not often that you get to run into a big shot in Westsilver! You're so beautiful. If he got out of the car and saw you, he'd definitely be smitten." Aimee sighed and curled her lips. “Of course, you're not one to fall easily for rich and handsome men. You even rejected one such man before..."
Knowing who she was referring to, Bethany was stunned. Her first instinct was to avoid talking about him.
"The night market is almost closed. Let's find a restaurant where we can get something to eat and then head back!"
Aimee shrugged and rolled her eyes. "You still haven't moved on from him, have you? That's why you're changing the subject."
“Actually, I have."
"Uh-uh! Bethany, we've been best friends for so many years. I know exactly what kind of person you are."
