Chapter: 369
As soon as Bethany opened her eyes, Ryan rushed to her bedside.
Bethany felt slightly dizzy, but fortunately, the pain was manageable, probably due to the lingering effects of the painkillers.
“I'm okay..."
"You had me terrified!" Ryan said. “If anything had happened to you because of the project, I would never forgive myself!"
She requested a transfer, but he tried to convince her to stay.
Bethany smiled weakly in response. Then, she suddenly remembered the man the doctor mentioned earlier-it must be Ryan.
She even daydreamed, imagining that it was Jonathan.
“Why are you here?" she asked.
“I returned to check on another project. When I found out you were in an accident, I booked the first flight I could. Luckily, the doctors here are the best in Westsilver. They said you're going to be alright!"
"I guess I'm always fortunate to have a good boss like you," Bethany said with a laugh, trying to sit up.
Ryan quickly helped her and arranged a pillow behind her back.
Colt, standing beside her, was ready to thank Bethany for risking herself to help him, but she spoke up first.
"After today, we should have no more problems with the resort. The residents must have been arrested."
Ryan paused, unsure whether to feel frustrated or to praise her dedication.
"You're in such a bad situation. Why are you still worried about the project? If they've really hurt you badly today, I won't let them get away with it!"
"Ryan, the residents were provoked. Please, don't be too harsh on them, and... I actually provoked them on purpose. I didn't expect them to react so violently."
Bethany understood that they wouldn't back down easily. It was tough to persuade them, so calling the police was a way to handle them when things got out of hand. After all, causing a scene and disturbing the peace was clear to the police who witnessed it. At the very least, they could be detained for a few days.
Upon hearing this, Colt furrowed his brows and scolded, "Bethany, don't ever do that again. While the project is important, your safety is more important. If it weren't for a kind-hearted man who intervened today, who knows what could have happened to you?"
"A kind-hearted man? Mr. Flores, did you get their contact information? I would like to thank them personally."
Colt shook his head and replied, "I couldn't defend myself then, surrounded by several residents. I didn't get a good look at the kind man, but I remember he was tall and dressed in a black suit."
Ryan said, "Then check for any surveillance cameras. If we can find the man, I need to personally express my gratitude on behalf of our company. Without this person, the consequences would have been unimaginable."
Ryan and Colt spoke, unaware that Bethany's mind was elsewhere.
A tall man in a black suit...
Could it be Jonathan?
