Chapter: 384
Despite his friendly leadership style, he typically steered clear of dusty, chaotic places like this.
As soon as Bethany stepped out of her car, Ryan spotted her from a distance.
“Bethany, over here!" he called out, waving energetically, unconcerned by the stares from others.
After the unsettling experiences of the previous night, Bethany approached with caution. She greeted him in a formal tone, “Mr. Blakely."
Ryan seemed surprised by her formality.
“Why didn't you let us know you were coming? Colt could have prepared for your visit," Bethany said, keeping her distance.
“I came specifically to see you; no need for preparations," Ryan replied, squinting slightly with a smile. “I'm leaving the country soon, and as a courtesy, I should at least take you to lunch."
Bethany hesitated, about to decline, when Ryan quickly added, “It's not just us; I've invited a prominent figure from the business community. I think you should meet him. There might be opportunities for future collaboration."
"Who is it?" Bethany inquired, her interest piqued.
Ryan smirked mysteriously. "You'll see when you get there! If you're concerned, feel free to bring Colt along. It's a straightforward invitation, no strings attached."
Bethany thought for a moment and then suggested with a smile, "Let's invite Colt as well. He's been instrumental in this project. If you only take me out to meet people, he might feel left out."
Ryan laughed, somewhat resigned. “Alright, whatever you say! But I am curious how your husband managed to win you over."
She was astute and composed, maintaining a certain distance from people, yet never making anyone feel alienated. She projected an aura that made her seem not quite close, yet their relationship felt profound.
What would it take to win the heart of a woman like that?
Bethany chose not to answer his question; the story was too Lengthy and lay too far in the past.
Meanwhile, at Westsilver Airport, Ryan left the construction site to meet his old friend.
It had been some time since their last meeting, and he was looking forward to the reunion.
As expected, he spotted Nikolas walking out alone, carrying no luggage.
“Over here!" Ryan called out, advancing to give him a hearty hug.
“Can you tone down the enthusiasm? People might think we're more than friends..." Nikolas joked, although his expression was bright with a smile.
Ryan chuckled, clapping his friend on the back. "You're still as charming as ever! Haven't you been keeping the ladies back home busy?"
“Me? With a boss as driven as mine, there's hardly time for social pursuits. Life's tough, my friend!"
“Don't tell me you're interested in my crush?"
“If I say yes, given your reaction, you'd probably send me back on the next flight, wouldn't you?" Nikolas laughed, his handsome face alight with amusement. "I'm just curious. Don't worry, you haven't won her over yet, and I wouldn't be foolish enough to try."
