Chapter: 436
"No, she's still sleeping soundly. The doctor has already removed the IV. I was getting worried since you hadn't returned, and I thought something might have happened to you." Jaden's tall figure cast a large shadow over her, obscuring the light above.

“I was just on the phone with a friend," Bethany said with a smile.

“Now that Liza's IV is out, can we go back?"

Jaden nodded, "Yes. I'll check on her again in the morning. Ms. Holt, you should get back to your work."

Bethany pondered for a moment and agreed.

She reminded herself that she wasn't here on vacation; she couldn't continue to put off her work. Any delays could potentially affect her and her two assistants if Ryan took issue with them.

As they walked away, their figures blending into the shadows, a figure stepped around the corner of the corridor.

Jonathan's dark eyes narrowed, his expression one of displeasure.

Why were so many men constantly hovering around Bethany?

He pulled out his phone and dialed Brody.

“Look into Goldwald Company's recent projects in Brokdon."

“Got it. Are you in Brokdon now, Mr. Bates?"

"Yes."

“Do you need me to arrange anything? The presidential suite at Opulence Hotel in Brokdon is available."

"No need," Jonathan responded curtly. "Just get the information I requested and find out more about this man."

He quickly sent Brody a photo of Jaden he had just captured.

"Understood, Mr. Bates. I'll begin the investigation immediately."

Due to an unexpected issue with Liza, Bethany ended up meeting with Jaden alone on the second day. They waited to proceed to the meeting room until Liza returned from the hospital.

Once they had settled the process and division of responsibilities, Liza stood up, bowed her head, and apologized to Bethany. “I'm sorry, Ms. Holt. I shouldn't have eaten too much and delayed our work. It won't happen again."

"It's fine. The food in Brokdon is tempting; I understand." Bethany stood, patted Liza on the shoulder. “Let's aim for perfection this time. When I return to the company, I'll see about securing additional benefits for you."

"Ms. Holt, you're too kind! Thank you!" Liza was visibly moved, nearly in tears. "People talk behind your back. They don't know the real you!"

Jaden shot her a look, silently cautioning her against speaking out of turn.

Bethany responded with a smile, "It's okay. I'm used to it. Some people aren't great at their jobs, but excel at spreading rumors. Those kinds of people don't last long at the company. I don't let it bother me."

Seeing Liza sometimes reminded Bethany of a younger Aimee.
