Chapter: 443
Jaden witnessed their interaction and doubted that Bethany would make it back to the hotel without assistance tonight. He sent a message to Liza, requesting that she arrange for a car to wait at the restaurant entrance so that they could bring Bethany back to the hotel as soon as dinner was over.
"Earlier today, Ms. Holt and I briefly went over the details of our cooperation. We appreciate Goldwald Company's sincerity." Brenden steered the conversation back to work.
Bethany understood what he meant. He wasn't happy with the terms Goldwald Company had proposed.
But she had to act like she didn't get it because they needed to keep working together.
"Yes, I'm sure you can see our sincerity. I was actually on a business trip in Westsilver, but our leader sent me here to Brokdon to discuss cooperation with you," Bethany explained.
Wesley, energized by the conversation, quickly filled another glass for Bethany, who had just finished her drink.
Brenden chuckled and encouraged her, “Ms. Holt, you should try this wine. Mr. Byrd brought out this special bottle just for you. He rarely shares it with anyone else."
“Oh? Then I certainly must give it a try."
Actually, Bethany couldn't distinguish between good and bad wine. She could only close her eyes and take a sip.
“Stop sitting around; you both should join in and have a drink. Come on, try it together," Brenden suddenly said to Jaden and Liza.
If the two assistants didn't drink, Brenden would feel offended.
Bethany was about to say something, but Byrd was quicker to speak.
"Clearly, Ms. Holt thinks highly of you both, having brought you to such an event. It speaks to your strong abilities. You may handle independent tasks soon. Let's drink to this opportunity to bond. I cherish good wine and good company."
Liza felt nervous. Her ability to handle alcohol was even worse than Bethany's. She was on the verge of excusing herself from drinking, but Jaden discreetly stopped her by pulling on her sleeve.
He understood that if Bethany had to defend them, her efforts in drinking earlier would be undone.
"Thank you, Mr. Byrd, but I fear they might not do justice to your fine wine," Bethany said with a frown, trying to shield them.
Yet, Byrd insisted, “Nonsense, just drink!"
With the wine glasses filled and placed before them, there was no turning back.
Jaden closed his eyes, raised his glass, and downed his drink in one gulp.
Seeing this, Liza felt compelled to follow Jaden.
"Okay! That's great! Brenden, keep the drinks coming," Wesley suggested with a wink, and Brenden caught on instantly.
Bethany was overwhelmed. She did not want Liza to get drunk, so she quickly said to Jaden, “Ryan just called asking for a document. Take Liza to the hotel and send it to him!"
"Ms. Holt, I..."
"Please, go!" Bethany's firm look urged him to leave with Liza.
