Chapter: 451
Yet, who had changed her clothes?
When the staff returned with the charger, Bethany asked, "The person who said he was my friend...Was he by himself? Were there any women with him?"
"I didn't see any women. Your friend was quite handsome."
"Okay, thanks for letting me know,"
Bethany recalled the driver's appearance.
Handsome? He wasn't bad-looking.
Once her phone was charged and powered on, it was flooded with missed calls and messages.
Ignoring them, she focused on uncovering the events of the previous night. She found the driver's number and called him.
Within moments, the call connected.
“Hello? You're awake."
"Hmm... Yes! You picked me up from the restaurant last night, right? Thank you so much." Bethany didn't inquire who had changed her clothes, assuming it was a considerate gesture to pick her up.
"No need to thank me."
“Last night... Was it just you who came for me?" Bethany asked cautiously. “I mean, I was too drunk. I'm surprised you managed on your own."
She subtly searched for a way to phrase her question.
The driver clarified, “It was my female friend who helped change your clothes."
“Ah! That's good... Um, no, I mean..."
"It's fine. No need to thank me, you've helped me a lot too." Indeed, he had asked a girl to help change Bethany's clothes.
The night had taken a regrettable turn for Jonathan. Not because of the actions themselves, but because Bethany was now married. Despite always claiming to be a stickler for propriety, he had inadvertently become the other man.
Struggling with his conscience, he left the hotel after making sure Bethany was settled.
Bethany received her answer and quickly ended the call. She needed to respond to others to alleviate their concerns about her whereabouts.
Thinking a shower might help, she tried calling Liza, but got no response.
After setting down her phone, Bethany entered the bathroom and noticed a dull pain in her lower abdomen and a sour sensation in her private parts.
Could her period be starting?
She checked her phone; indeed, it was that time of the month.
