Chapter: 452
Turning on the shower, Bethany stood under the warm water, hoping it would ease the discomfort.
Suddenly, a memory flashed before her eyes.
“Bethany, snap out of it!"
Her eyes shot open, her heart skipping a beat.
That was Jonathan's voice!
But as quickly as the shock came, she dismissed it as a hallucination, her mind drifting off once more.
Recently, she found herself constantly thinking about Jonathan, perhaps because she was about to leave the country and felt a sense of reluctance.
When Ryan arrived at Owlimited Company, his stern expression truly alarmed Wesley.
He hadn't realized just how crucial Bethany was to Ryan.
"I sent my people here to discuss cooperation, not to have you get her drunk!"
"Yes, yes, it's completely my fault." Wesley nodded, his smile contrite. "I got carried away with the celebration, I didn't consider the implications. Then Ms. Holt indulged me by drinking what I poured. I thought she could handle it, but clearly..."
Ryan cut him off with a sharp look. “Are you suggesting my staff are used to drinking heavily?"
"No, not at all!" Wesley responded hastily. "I completely understand your concern. I was worried too. I assumed she had gone back to rest since she didn't return yesterday. I also had too much to drink. Otherwise, this wouldn't have occurred. Alas, it's my responsibility since it happened on my watch. I must take full responsibility."
With that, Wesley quickly instructed several security guards, "Go out and find her. Don't return without her!"
Ryan squinted at Wesley, sensing that things might not be as straightforward as Wesley said.
Usually, if Bethany had left early, she would have mentioned it. Also, if Wesley noticed Bethany hadn't returned, why would he just Leave?
Shouldn't he go look for Bethany then?
Maybe Wesley had done something he now feared would be discovered.
After giving his instructions, Wesley turned to find Ryan looking at him intently.
He quickly averted his gaze, feeling a twinge of guilt.
“When Bethany returns, I need to take her for a blood test to check what was in that wine you served," said Ryan.
A blood test?
Wesley felt a surge of panic.
"Do we really need that? What's the test for? I only served her some fine wine. Nothing more."
