Chapter: 465
Her focus was elsewhere. She just wanted to meet the driver and learn about the previous night's events.
Ryan drove her to the restaurant. Since it wasn't time yet, she stayed in the car and discussed some work matters with Ryan.
Bethany said, "When the project in Westsilver is finished, I'll submit my resignation."
"No. I have a company abroad!"
Initially, Ryan was hesitant to let Bethany go, but now he felt it was for the best.
It would be better for her to be away from Jonathan.
He didn't want Jonathan meddling in anything.
"I haven't made specific plans. It's still undecided whether I will continue in this field."
Ryan looked at her and remarked, "You'll eventually find a job."
“That's true," Bethany responded, though her primary desire was to spend time with her children first.
She still had the opportunity to be with her kids. They were too young to understand their mother's absence, and by the time they were older, it might be too late to compensate.
“If you decide to work, just call me! Bethany, is there anything about your job at Goldwald Company that's troubling you?"
"Of course not!" She was sincere.
Working at Goldwald Company had been demanding, and while she had to work overtime to achieve her current status, the leaders had always shown concern for her. She wasn't just a token figure; if Goldwald Company 's management had been selfish, she wouldn't have reached the director level.
They could easily find reasons to block her promotions.
"Then think of Goldwald Company as your home. Maybe we will..."
"Ryan." Bethany cut him off. "I really don't want to think about relationships right now. I don't want to mislead you because I respect you."
Ryan searched her eyes and asked, “Do you still have feelings for Jonathan?"
He was reluctant to ask the question.
He feared hearing the answer he least wanted. What should he do then?
Let go?
Bethany simply responded, “We're done."
She chose not to disclose what the Bates family had done, as she lacked concrete proof. She believed that once the truth was known, everyone would understand why she couldn't be with Jonathan.
Ryan, astute as he was, realized Bethany hadn't given him a straight answer.
