Chapter: 466
Since she insisted it was over, Ryan realized he didn't need to press for an exact answer.

"Then I'll wait for you. I'll give you some more time."

Unable to convince Ryan and not wanting to prolong the conversation, Bethany decided it was best to move on.

Once she left the country, she figured he would eventually fall for someone else. She didn't believe that Ryan, who was a playboy, could maintain his affection in the long term.

Ryan opened his mouth to say more, but at that moment, Bethany's phone rang.

She noticed a car pulling up in front of her, so she answered and stepped out. "Hello? I'm at the door."

As soon as Bethany exited the car, she saw the driver stepping out from the vehicle across the street.

He caught her eye and waved, his smile genuine and unassuming.

Many of Bethany's reservations melted away in that instant.

The driver's demeanor and the sincerity in his eyes made it hard for Bethany to believe he was anything but kind.

"Let's go inside and talk, shall we?"

“Sure!" the driver responded without any pretense. He was just helping as a friend, a good deed as Jonathan had described.

The driver followed Bethany into the private dining room she had reserved, where she had ordered an array of top-grade seafood dishes.

She mentioned she was here to express her gratitude, so she wanted everything to be perfect.

“Wow, this is quite a feast. I've never tried these dishes before!”

The driver's eyes widened at the sight of the food.

"Then please, enjoy as much as you'd like." Bethany pushed the dishes towards him and smiled. “I never got your name. I didn't expect you'd go out of your way to help me."

The driver paused for a moment, then waved his hand dismissively.

"It's really no big deal. I was in Brokdon with an old classmate who knew where to find you, so we decided to come over. I figured if you needed help, I'd be there for you. And I'm sorry about the accident with your car before."

“Oh, I didn't expect anyone to come. I was really drunk that time."

Seeing the driver's relaxed demeanor, Bethany felt reassured and decided not to probe further.

"Just be more careful when you're out late at night," the driver added after a pause. "Your parents would worry! The world can be dangerous."

Bethany nodded, not dwelling too much on the advice. “I was so focused on securing that contract!"

Their tactics weren't exactly sophisticated. Bethany had been cautious-she hadn't gone alone and had brought Jaden and Liza with her. But as the situation grew more challenging for her team, as their leader, she felt compelled to intervene. To maintain professionalism for the sake of the contract, she had to let her colleagues leave first.
