Chapter: 467
"You really don't need to thank me so much. I have a daughter too, younger than you, and as a father, I just hope there would be someone to help her if she ever found herself in a similar situation."

Bethany responded earnestly, “If your daughter ever needs help, I'll do whatever I can."

She felt deeply indebted to him.

"No, thanks!" The driver almost mentioned something about Jonathan but quickly stopped himself. “Well, you can just cover the hotel bill from yesterday."

He didn't actually want the money, but he didn't know what else to say.

Surprised, Bethany took out her phone and asked, "Of course, how much was it?"

"Five hundred?" To him, five hundred dollars seemed a reasonable amount for a hotel stay.

Bethany thought he was just being modest about asking for the amount, so she transferred five thousand to him instead.

"I know it's a high-end hotel. A night there costs three or four thousand. I really appreciate your help, so I can't let you incur any losses."

The driver was taken aback and didn't dare to say more, worried he might reveal too much, so he simply nodded.

He planned to pass the excess money on to Jonathan later. He had no intention of keeping it.

Meanwhile, Ryan hadn't left the vicinity of the restaurant.

He leaned against his car, smoking a cigarette, and glanced occasionally towards the restaurant.

He was curious about what Bethany and the driver were discussing.

Ryan was about to make a call to someone in his company when he noticed a car nearby.

It was a Bentley.

In Brokdon, only a handful of people drove such a car.

Considering what Nikolas had told him about Jonathan also being in Brokdon, Ryan had a strong suspicion.

Jonathan was in the Bentley.

Ryan realized Jonathan must have orchestrated everything.

Ryan finished his cigarette and crushed it underfoot before walking toward the car.

He knocked on the car window.

The window slid down to reveal the face of a secretary clad in a suit.

"Hello, sir. What can I do for you?"
