Chapter: 468
Ryan seized the chance to peer into the back seat, but the view was obstructed by the partition, revealing nothing. Yet, he was certain someone was back there.

“Could I borrow a lighter? Just to light a cigarette," Ryan said while holding up his cigarette pack.

"Sorry, I don't smoke." Brody smiled politely and beginning to roll up the window.

But Ryan changed the topic. "Is the person in this car someone important? May I know who it is? I'm also in business. I run Goldwald Company. Perhaps I know your boss."

Goldwald Company?

That was Bethany's company.

Brody instinctively glanced in the rearview mirror at his boss, who showed no reaction, and then replied, "My boss is resting. I'm sorry.”

"Alright."

Ryan sensed his attempt to engage had failed.

As he turned to leave, he heard the car door open.

The man he only saw in magazines was now standing before him.

Jonathan was remarkable.

Even dressed casually, he carried an imposing presence. He exuded innate dignity and a sense of detachment.

"You are Ryan Blakely."

It wasn't a question. Jonathan stated it with certainty.

Ryan was slightly taken aback that Jonathan knew his name.

“Yes, I am Ryan."

He stepped forward, extending his hand in greeting.

However, Jonathan made no move to shake his hand. "What's going on?" he asked.

“I'm not here looking for you. Your car is quite noticeable parked over there. I just wanted to introduce myself."

Jonathan might have believed such a statement from someone else.

But coming from a man pursuing Bethany, it would be naive to take it at face value.

"You sent Bethany here." It was clear to Jonathan now why Ryan was in Brokdon.

Ryan nodded and smiled. "Yes, she wanted to thank someone who helped her. It got late, and she asked me to drive her here. She suggested going upstairs together, but I didn't think it was appropriate for me to meet her friend. After all, she hasn't disclosed our relationship yet."
