Chapter: 469
His words were loaded with implications.

He wasn't just hinting to Jonathan; he was making it clear that Bethany was his girlfriend now.

However, Ryan miscalculated one thing.

No one understood Bethany better than Jonathan did. "You insisted on coming along, didn't you?"

Ryan was stunned.

“Bethany wouldn't ask anyone to accompany her," Jonathan continued.

“Mr. Bates, you've been apart from her for years. How can you be so sure she hasn't changed?" Ryan smiled. “People change."

"Not her," Jonathan said.

“Mr. Bates, if you're so confident about Bethany, why did you divorce her?" Ryan shrugged and spread his hands. “It's just that you don't really understand her. You don't know what she truly wants."

"So you know what Bethany wants?" Jonathan retorted.

"I do know. Tell me, is there a woman who doesn't want to be treated with care? Even when she meets her friends, I'd wait for her downstairs. Would you do that?" Ryan asked.

He believed Jonathan was overwhelmed with work daily. How could Jonathan find the time to be with Bethany?

He guessed Jonathan's inability to be there for Bethany was Likely the reason for their separation.

However, he didn't know Jonathan could set aside the entire company's affairs and even cancel the morning meeting just to make breakfast for Bethany. Jonathan had even had meetings online so he could be in Brokdon.

"You know she won't accept you," Jonathan said, already aware that Ryan was another admirer.

Ryan was no different from him.

However, Ryan could pursue her openly, while Jonathan had to do it secretly, just like now.

“We'll just have to wait and find out." Ryan's confidence was obvious.

He waved at Jonathan. “I won't keep you any longer. Bye."

He turned and walked away. Only then did Brody step out of the car.

"Mr. Bates, should we do something about Goldwald Company?"

"No, there's no need." Jonathan's gaze shifted from Ryan's retreating figure to the restaurant entrance, his eyes thoughtful. "Bethany won't choose him."

“Of course she won't! You're superior to him in every way. The status, looks, and behavior."

Brody was telling the truth. There was no flattery in his statement.
