Chapter: 470
Jonathan laughed with a touch of self-mockery. "But she won't choose me either."

Brody stayed silent.

“Qwlimited Company is bankrupt. Ryan and Bethany will be leaving Brokdon soon, and I'll head back to Odonset as well."

Jonathan understood the weight of his responsibilities; he couldn't afford to keep acting on his whims.

Besides, what right did he have to pursue Bethany?

He climbed into the car, where he could hear the driver chatting with Bethany.

The driver had a bug with him. Jonathan didn't mean to eavesdrop. He just worried the driver might say something inappropriate.

"I really want to thank you; you're such a good person!"

Bethany's voice remained soft and pleasant.

It was obvious she felt sincere gratitude towards the driver.

Jonathan couldn't even begin to think about what might happen if she learned the truth about that night they shared.

The conversation between the driver and Bethany continued to play through the bug; Jonathan simply closed his eyes and listened.

Out of nowhere, Bethany's phone began to ring.

Jonathan frowned and opened his eyes.

“What? Run away from home? Did you call the police?"

Jonathan couldn't figure out who Bethany was referring to; still, it was clear that she cared deeply for this person.

“Sir, I apologize, but I have something urgent to take care of. I promise I'll treat you next time," Bethany said to the driver.

"Alright. Sure!" The driver nodded, still feeling a bit dazed.

Then he watched as Bethany hurried out of the restaurant, her bag slung over her shoulder.

Once he confirmed she was gone, he called Jonathan. "Miss Holt is no longer here."

“Who called her?"

“I have no idea! It was a man. He sounded anxious. Miss Holt looked worried and left right away."

A man? Could it be Jayson?

"That's not your concern. You can leave now," Jonathan instructed.
