Jonathan simply dismissed it as another one of Nikolas’ jokes. He probably just spotted a kid who reminded him of someone and decided to make a big deal out of it.

“Have you completed your projects? If you're free, I can arrange for you to move abroad."

“Wait! Why won't you take my word for it? I'll send you a picture right now!"

"I don't want to see it."

Jonathan rubbed his temples in frustration. Living in this unfamiliar city was never part of his plan, and it bothered him greatly.

“I'm serious about this! I'm not making things up! Just come back to Odonset. You'll see the kid and realize I'm telling the truth!"

“Is there anything else?" Jonathan's tone was icy. He was losing his patience.

"I really-"

Before Nikolas could finish, Jonathan abruptly ended the call.

Undeterred, Nikolas sent a photo to Jonathan.

Jonathan didn't have a moment to look at it. He simply powered on his laptop and logged into the company system.

A mountain of work awaited him after his abrupt departure from the company.

While Jonathan was focused on his tasks, he noticed the project contract Maddie had sent over. Their conversations revolved solely around work. Nothing else crossed his mind.

At this moment, someone was at the door.

Jonathan moved to open it.

Brody stood there, holding some food.

“Mr. Bates, you still haven't eaten. Here, I got this for you. I'll review the emails in the system later. You don't need to go through them all. If anything important comes up, I'll let you know."

Jonathan appreciated everything Brody had done for him over the years.

"I'm free tonight, so you should take a break."

Brody smiled and replied, "I'm not tired at all!"

Jonathan stepped aside to let Brody enter.

Brody set the food on the table and prepared to leave.

“How about we eat together?" Jonathan asked.

"No need! I'll grab something when I get back."
