Nikolas couldn't bear to think about the consequences.

“Maddie Hinchcliffe's family, please come forward."

A nurse emerged from the doctor's office.

Nikolas moistened his dry lips and entered the doctor's office.

"Doctor, how is she?"

“Nothing to worry about. She's undergone some tests and they're all clear. It could be her late nights lately that are making her heart rate irregular."

"Okay. Thank you, Doctor."

Nikolas was too preoccupied with the missing child to focus on what the doctor was saying about Maddie's condition.

After escorting Maddie to the car, Nikolas mentioned, “I'll drop you at the office. Then I have to go."

Maddie looked at Nikolas and asked with concern, “What's wrong? Why can't you drive me home?"

"The child who resembles Jonathan is missing! I need to find him."

“what?" Maddie was taken aback. “Why? How could you lose a child? Hurry and take me with you. I'll help you find him!"

Nikolas eyed Maddie skeptically. "You'll help?"

"Of course!" Maddie took it for granted. "Even though I struggle with the idea that Jonathan might have a child, it's still a child, a human being! I'd be devastated if something bad happened to him. Nikolas, do you really think I'm heartless?"

Pretty much. Of course, Nikolas didn't say it out loud.

He then sped towards the hotel.

His assistant was reviewing the security footage from around the hotel.

“Mr. Bennett."

“Any updates?"

The assistant shook his head. “Nothing yet. And the kidnapper seems prepared. We can't see his face in the footage."

Nikolas was visibly stressed.

Jonathan would be arriving in Odonset very soon.

Maddie patted Nikolas on the shoulder, trying to reassure him. "Calm down! It seems like someone is looking after the child. He might have run off, and now a family member has picked him up. It's a possibility.”

Nikolas frowned and said, “Jonathan hasn't met him. And we have no idea who took the child."
