Chapter: 495
He was trying to encourage Bethany to let go by showing her that Jonathan wasn't a good man.
"I heard from Nikolas that a child who strongly resembles Jonathan showed up at the company, claiming to be his son. Everyone who saw him was convinced he must be Jonathan's Bethany did not respond."
Ryan anticipated her silence.
Bethany clearly still harbored feelings for Jonathan, so the revelation of his illegitimate child was Likely overwhelming for her.
It was natural for her to be speechless from the shock.
Yet, what he had said actually helped Bethany a lot.
She suspected the child Ryan mentioned might be Rowan.
“Bethany? Is something wrong?" Ryan asked, pretending to be concerned.
"No, nothing! What happened next? Did Jonathan accept the child?"
Bethany was eager to know Rowan's current situation.
It seemed her worst fears were unfolding.
The urgency was clear; they needed to leave the country quickly with Rowan before the Bates family could find him.
"They're so similar in appearance. What choice does he have but to accept the boy? How could he possibly deny the child's identity? I think the Bates family will have to accept him and acknowledge him as one of their own."
“Ryan, who told you about this?"
"Nikolas! So it's definitely true."
“Could you ask Nikolas about Jonathan's plans for this child. Do Jonathan's parents know?"
Ryan interpreted this as Bethany still had feelings for Jonathan and was still concerned about Jonathan's decision.
“Sure, I'll ask him. Bethany, even though you were once together, you're divorced now. You have to accept that he has moved on. Jonathan holds a respected position in society. It's natural for him to have many women around him, and an illegitimate child isn't surprising."
Ryan's repeated mention of “illegitimate child" made Bethany slightly uncomfortable. "But if Jonathan doesn't know about the child, then it's not really an illegitimate child, right?"
"Aren't all children born out of wedlock considered illegitimate? What's the difference?"
"Well, hasn't Jonathan been married? Maybe the child is his wife's."
Ryan sensed that Bethany just couldn't bear to see Jonathan's image damaged at the moment, but he believed that given some time, she would come around.
If Bethany realized Jonathan already had a child with another woman, she would understand there was no future for them. That was Ryan's goal, and he had achieved it.
"Don't be too upset, Bethany!"
