Chapter: 496
Bethany was not upset. She was worried.
She suspected that Rowan had gone to confront Jonathan. But if Jonathan was controlling Rowan, she might not be able to take him back.
The thought of what might happen if Jonathan discovered Rowan terrified Bethany. Would she ever see her son again?
After ending the call with Ryan, Bethany immediately talked it over with Jayson and Aimee.
They were still figuring out how to begin searching for Rowan in Odonset. Now, they had a starting point.
"You mean Rowan went to see Jonathan? You're serious?"
"Yes, Rowan went to Bates Group."
Jayson remained silent, but on the other end, Aimee cried out, "Jayson! Are you alright?"
Bethany asked, "Jayson, what's wrong?"
Aimee took the phone, her voice filled with worry. “Jayson hasn't slept for days. He's been searching for Rowan since we returned. He just passed out in the car from low blood pressure."
"I'm okay. Please, don't tell Bethany about this!" Jayson, feeling a little better, took the phone back.
“Jayson! If you don't tell her, how will Bethany know how much you care? You keep everything to yourself. How are you going to win her over?"
Bethany frowned, glanced at Nola playing nearby, and whispered, "Jayson, I need to go to Odonset. Now that Jonathan knows, I might be the only one who can retrieve Rowan."
She had weighed her options. Any other plan seemed destined to fail.
She believed that only by confronting Jonathan could she find a ray of hope.
"If you leave now, all our hard work will go to waste. Please, trust me on this one. I'll find a way to rescue Rowan. You've been away and might not grasp the full picture. Rowan didn't seek Jonathan because he needed a father. Rowan views his father as unreliable."
Jayson knew Rowan felt this way, but he couldn't talk with him about it. Instead, he aimed to support Rowan and shower him with the Love he missed from not having a father around.
Bethany asked, "So, are you suggesting that Jonathan doesn't know who Rowan's mother is? And that's how we'll get Rowan back?"
“Yes! I'm pretty sure Rowan won't tell Jonathan."
Bethany's expression turned into a frown.
But then she thought, to have a child with Jonathan, someone had to sleep with him. It was not possible he slept with someone else four years ago. Then, he would still find out who the boy's mother was.
Jayson had also pondered this dilemma. He comforted Bethany, saying, "Don't stress. Unless Rowan states it outright, no one will be certain how old he is. After your separation, Jonathan couldn't have been alone all these years. We must not give up hope."
“But I'm anxious about staying here by myself. I should head to Odonset as well, but I'll stay hidden for now. If everything else fails, I'll face Jonathan myself."
After a moment's hesitation, Jayson empathized with Bethany's situation and agreed.
