Chapter: 497
"Alright! I'll use my ID to book a room for you, and then I'll stay at a friend's place. That way, you won't be found."
“Okay. Thank you, Jayson."
“Don't say anything! I don't want to hear a ‘thank you.'"
After ending the call, Bethany stared at her phone with a heavy heart.
She should have set clear boundaries with Jayson since she hadn't planned on being with him. But now, she still relied on his help for everything.
Sometimes, Bethany felt guilty. She couldn't ignore the guilt her conscience brought.
She felt like she was wasting his time.
After Jonathan and Nikolas met, Nikolas examined all the suspicious surveillance videos in the area.
However, the person who had taken the child was thoroughly prepared, arriving at the hotel fully equipped and navigating through the cameras’ blind spots while leaving with the child.
In the end, this led to no clues.
“Jonathan, do you think this person may want to use the child to blackmail you?"
Jonathan looked at Nikolas, his eyebrows knitted together. "No one has reached out to me yet."
"Could it be it's not the right time?"
"And when would be the right time?" Jonathan asked. “If, as you mentioned, the child is quite tall, about three or four years old, does that mean the child is Bethany's?"
Nikolas shook his head, his voice firm.
"It's not hers!" She had a daughter, not a son, and the daughter wasn't Jonathan's.
Of course, Nikolas didn't say that.
He had already caused Jonathan much trouble; he couldn't risk aggravating him further.
"Other than her, I haven't slept with anyone else."
Jonathan said this confidently, without a hint of shame or unease.
He believed there was no shame in being faithful to love.
"You've only slept with Bethany? Are you serious?" Nikolas exclaimed, shocked.
"Yes,"
"Then have you ever been drunk and mistakenly taken another woman as Bethany?" Nikolas considered that a child didn't just appear out of thin air. Perhaps it was an incident Jonathan wasn't aware of.
