Chapter: 509
Maddie hesitated before admitting, "A friend of mine took him. I just want to get him back home. Francine, I'm really sorry. I'm afraid that Jonathan will leave me."

"I'm not blaming you! What you did was necessary. If you still have the child, Jonathan will eventually find out. Give him to me, and I'll take care of everything," Francine assured her.

“But Jonathan..."

“Don't worry. He can't do anything to me."

Maddie had thought about getting rid of the child to avoid complications, but with Francine's support and involvement, she felt she could safely hand over the child.

She wasn't worried about anything else. Her main concern was not harming her relationship with Jonathan further. If the truth came out, she could argue that Francine had pressured her into it.

Jonathan would have no grounds to blame her then.

“Okay, I'll have someone bring the child to you.”

“Good. You don't need to worry about what I'll do with the child. Just stay out of it," Francine said firmly.

"Okay."

After ending the call, Maddie was about to phone the man, but he called her first.

As she picked up, the man sounded panicked.

“Damn it! The kid escaped!"

"What?" Maddie asked, startled.

"I underestimated him. He's smarter than I thought. He figured out the password I set. Now he's escaped!"

Maddie, despite her careful planning, had never envisioned the child escaping.

"Quick, go after him! I'm warning you, if this gets out, we're in deep trouble! Jonathan won't let us off easy!" Maddie cried out.

“I've sent my team to search for him, but there's no update yet. I'll inform you as soon as we find him," the man replied.

"You must find him. Don't make me come after you."

Maddie couldn't fathom the fallout if Jonathan discovered her attempt to harm the child.

Her entire, carefully crafted image would crumble!

If this man were to be apprehended, all her buried secrets might come to light.

That was a scenario she could not permit.

If push came to shove, she was prepared to erase the man and his secrets.
