Chapter: 517
"Yeah, I actually find joy and fulfillment in taking care of Rowan! If I couldn't be around him, I'd feel like I've lost my reason for being." Jayson struggled to find the right words.

He had long accepted that Bethany would never be with him.

It was a realization that had been with him for years.

But sometimes, giving became a routine, and over the years, he had truly embraced it. He looked after Rowan as if he were his own son.

Jayson even thought that, with Rowan around, he didn't need children of his own.

"Jayson, you're an only child. Even if you're not concerned for yourself, think about your parents. What will they do?" Bethany asked.

Jayson had considered it, but he found it hard to envision himself with another woman.

“Forget it, Bethany, let my cousin stay with us!"

Bethany turned to Aimee and said, "But."

"I'll speak with him privately," Aimee reassured her, patting her shoulder and implying she should not dwell on this issue and should leave Odonset as soon as she could.

Staying away from Jonathan was imperative right now.

"Alright."

Bethany understood that resolving this issue wouldn't be quick. It would only settle once he accepted it himself.

Bethany started to pack, while Aimee entertained the two children.

As evening approached, Jayson arrived in a borrowed car.

"We can leave now. This car is from a friend, and it should be untraceable!"

"Okay." Bethany quickly got into the car, holding a sleeping Nola and followed by Rowan.

Aimee checked the house to ensure they left nothing behind before she took her place in the passenger seat.

Once Rowan settled into the car, he was absorbed by his phone.

He was focused on something that looked like a stream of data, and he didn't stop analyzing it.

“Rowan, what are you looking at?" Bethany eventually asked.

Rowan glanced up and said, “It's data from Bates Group! Mom, look, this is how much the project department recently spent, and here, this shows their return on investment."

Bethany leaned in to view the numbers more closely. “Why are you digging into these?"

"I'm searching for their weaknesses. I can't believe they're completely without fault."
