Chapter: 555
Rowan hesitated, then muttered, “It's H."
Jonathan was taken aback, instinctively responding, “Is your mom's last name Holt?"
Rowan hadn't expected Jonathan would guess so accurately and started to worry internally that he might have revealed too much.
He quickly denied, "It's not Holt!"
"Really?" Jonathan's piercing gaze fixed on him.
Rowan quickly adopted an innocent, naive look. “Of course.”
He didn't yet realize the implications of his reaction.
The initial H could mean Holt or Hinchcliffe.
Jonathan's expression grew tense, and his lips trembled slightly.
To Rowan, however, these seemed Like signs of disbelief.
He quickly thought of a last name to fool Jonathan, but before he could say it, Jonathan asked first, “Is it Hinchcliffe?"
Seeing Jonathan present an excuse, Rowan quickly gestured with his hands, saying, "Oh, come on, you just asked for a letter. Now you're tricking me! Is it fair to cheat a kid?"
"Alright, I won't ask further."
Jonathan knew it was time for a serious "talk" with his parents.
Regardless of whether this story was true or not, he could no Longer ignore his mother's behavior. He had previously avoided confronting her because it was too frustrating, and he didn't want to risk her health or endure her constant complaints.
But now, after witnessing Maddie's boldness, he realized he could no longer overlook the situation.
Maddie's arrogance was clearly fueled by the support she got from his mother.
If Maddie had shown any control, things might not have reached this point. Jonathan even began to suspect that Maddie might have had a role in Nikolas' accident.
Meanwhile, Bethany was aware that Rowan was in Odonset and unable to leave.
She couldn't openly demand her son from Jonathan, but she was anxious about the potential harm the Bates family could do to Rowan. She had to remain and figure out how to rescue him.
Jayson and Aimee both urged her to leave.
Jayson urged, “Jonathan has eyes everywhere. It's risky for you to be found here! Bethany, I can manage things in Odonset. I'll figure out a way to deal with Jonathan and get Rowan."
"No, Jayson, I need to take my child with me."
“But there's nothing you can do here!" Jayson tried to explain. “If Jonathan learns you're staying, he'll surely connect you to the child. It will only make it harder for you to get Rowan out."
