Chapter: 556
“Jonathan already suspects the child is his. He just hasn't realized I'm the mother. The Bates family probably suspects as well. I'm concerned Maddie might harm him!"

Bethany was less worried about Jonathan's parents, despite their past ruthless behavior. She believed that their familial connection would prevent them from being as harsh as they were with Marie. However, Maddie wouldn't hold back.

The root of all these problems was Maddie!

"I'm trying to get in touch with Rowan, Bethany. I think he understands what he's doing. He mentioned seeking revenge. Once he's finished, he'll contact me. Then we can proceed with our plan to leave the country!" Jayson believed it was too risky to stay in Odonset.

With Jonathan aware of the child's presence, Bethany was the most obvious suspect to him.

If he noticed her unusual activities, it would practically confirm all his suspicions.

"What else can I possibly do?" Bethany had braced herself for the worst. “If there's no other option, I'll have to take the last step. I'll confront Maddie."

Maddie wasn't completely brave when it came to Bethany.

She must realize that if Bethany disclosed her suspicions about her mother's death to Jonathan, he would not hesitate to investigate.

Perhaps Bethany could use this threat to keep Maddie from harming Rowan.

“Bethany, you're usually so smart. Why are you getting so worked up about this? Confronting Maddie could drive her to even more extreme actions. It won't solve anything!"

"Then I can't just sit here doing nothing, waiting for Rowan to return on his own!"

Bethany turned to Jayson, her expression full of exhaustion.

She was about to go crazy.

Everything seemed to be crumbling around her, leaving her powerless.

“I have said it before, trust me, I'll handle this. I assure you Rowan will be safe. Get back to your usual routine, go to work, and don't raise Jonathan's suspicions. As soon as I locate Rowan, I'll bring him to you, and we'll leave the country."

"But—"

“Bethany! It's clear that if Rowan doesn't achieve what he's set out to do, he'll continue trying to leave and find Jonathan. It's best to let him do what he wants. I'm confident he'll reach out to me."

Bethany felt a thousand concerns choking her, unable to say them.

She also realized she was practically powerless to change the situation.

"Go on, I'll take care of everything here." Jayson approached and gently patted her shoulder. “Nola is still waiting for you."

Bethany remained silent. She neither accepted nor declined.

She was overwhelmed and needed time to process everything.

At the hospital, Nikolas was still in the ICU, where no visitors were allowed.
