Chapter: 559
"Look into everyone connected to that address, using any means necessary."
Brody nodded, paused before adding, "Mr. Bates, I'm not sure if I should mention this..."
Jonathan opened his laptop and nodded, signaling for him to go on.
"You could get a DNA test for Rowan and Maddie. That would reveal the truth!"
When Maddie mentioned Rowan was her son, Brody was there too.
Although it sounded absurd, he couldn't dismiss the possibility entirely. After all, Maddie had always received support from Jonathan's parents.
Fortunately, confirming that claim was straightforward; it only needed a simple test.
However, Brody realized Jonathan wasn't keen on getting a test.
Jonathan stopped what he was doing and glanced up at him. “If you were Rowan, just back and harboring negative feelings towards me, how would you react if I insisted on a DNA test without your consent?"
Brody hadn't thought about it from the child's viewpoint.
"I've never considered having a paternity test with Rowan. He's my son, regardless of who his mother is. I want to protect him from any psychological trauma. Plus, I just don't trust Maddie."
Brody immediately understood. He recognized Jonathan's instinct to protect his child. If he didn't believe Maddie's words, there was no reason to seek confirmation.
As the car roared to life, Brody prepared to hit the gas.
Suddenly, Jonathan ordered, "By the way, make sure to acquire Goldwald Company."
"What?" The unexpected order threw Brody off balance. "Goldwald Company?"
He was eager to find out if it was the same Goldwald Company where Bethany was employed.
“Exactly. And once we acquire it, no employee will be allowed to leave."
"Mr. Bates, are you suggesting that..."
“Ryan, who heads Goldwald Company, is pursuing Bethany." Jonathan spoke in a steady tone, as if he were commenting on the weather. "I don't like it."
Brody blinked, wondering if he had misheard.
His boss was planning to acquire a major investment firm simply because he disapproved of someone pursuing Bethany.
"Is there an issue?" Jonathan looked at him, his expression serious.
Brody shook his head quickly. "No, not at all!"
After a moment's pause, he added, "After the acquisition, should we bring skilled and efficient employees into Bates Group?”
