Chapter: 568
"I have something to take care of, Ryan. I'll get in touch with you tomorrow," Bethany said quickly, then ended the call. She immediately called the HR department at Bates Group.

“Hello, this is Bethany Holt. You called earlier requesting my presence at Bates Group. I regret to inform you that I won't be able to make it."

"Ms. Holt, you are under contract with Goldwald Company."

Of course, she was aware of that. "Then I will quit."

"Okay. I have looked over your contract. It specifies that if you resign following a promotion to director, you must provide six months' notice, or it will be considered a contract breach. You have agreed to these terms and signed the contract. Therefore, if you submit your resignation now, you can process your exit in six months."

Bethany felt a headache brewing. Six months to resign! She had not anticipated this. Things had changed so rapidly; who could have expected Goldwald Company to suddenly become a subsidiary of Bates Group?

“What if I need to breach the contract? "I can't stay at Bates Group, " Bethany said, trying to stay calm.

"Ms. Holt, I advise you to think it over. According to your contract, a breach would not only require you to pay a fine but also cover any losses from projects you are involved with.”

Bethany was at a loss for words.

“One of your current projects is the development of the Westsilver resort. If you depart halfway, you'll be responsible for all related financial risks and losses. Are you certain you want to breach the contract?"

Bethany paused, unsure of her next move.

It wasn't that she suddenly felt compelled to join Bates Group. She just realized that she couldn't handle the cost of breaking the contract.

If it were only the penalty, she could manage to pay it without complaint. However, taking on the entire responsibility for the Westsilver resort project was beyond her reach.

Given the massive amount Jonathan had invested in acquiring Goldwald Company, he would be indifferent to the development of the resort.

As the president of the company, he had the power to drive the resort into debt at will.

Taking on the responsibility of a multi-billion-dollar project was far too much for her.

“Miss Holt, I urge you to think this over. If you decide to reconsider, Bates Group would be glad to have you."

The HR representative ended the call, leaving Bethany alone on her bed with a sense of defeat.

Jonathan had clearly blocked every possible escape, leaving her with no options at all.

What had prompted his decision?

Nikolas remained unconscious at the hospital.

After observing for a day, the doctor determined his life was no longer in danger. Now, his parents were waiting for the doctor Jonathan had invited to come to the country and see if he could bring Nikolas back to consciousness.

Ryan had tried calling Nikolas multiple times about the acquisition, only to learn that Nikolas had been in a car accident and was hospitalized.

Ryan quickly left his job and raced to the hospital, but entry to the ICU was restricted. All he could do was wait outside.
