Chapter: 586
Colt had brought up the idea not just out of kindness but because he wanted her to butter Jonathan up so that he himself would have access to Jonathan.
He would then take the time to strengthen his connection with Jonathan, which would bring him great success.
Colt already made a Lot of money in Goldwald Company. However, that Money was nothing compared to what he would make off Bates Group.
If Jonathan was the kind of boss who valued and rewarded competence at work, Colt couldn't even imagine how much he would make.
"Thank you for reminding me about that, but I'm not interested in buttering up the boss to make extra money. That's too difficult."
If possible, all she wanted was to get away from Bates Group.
“Can you help me find a way to meet Mr. Bates? I promise I'll never forget the favor when I do earn a fortune," Colt pleaded.
Bethany smiled, then nodded before saying, "I'll help you if I can."
Colt could sense Bethany's reluctance, but he didn't push any further.
He instead patted her on the shoulder.
Now that the difficult part was over, Bethany figured she would focus on reading the project material in the afternoon and then go to the construction site with the project team the next day so she would avoid meeting Jonathan in the company.
However, that was not to be the case, as she had barely settled down in her designated office when Brody knocked on the door.
"Hi, Bethany. Mr. Bates asks that you go out with him today at noon."
Surprised, Bethany frowned and said, “What?”
"You don't know?" Brody was quite surprised at her apparent confusion.
“Didn't Mr. Bates tell you that he assigned the project to you? You'd be going to meet the partners at noon."
"Yes, I know that. What I don't understand is why he has to go too."
Bethany didn't see the need for Jonathan to go to the meeting. The project didn't seem that important.
Brody carefully reflected on her question before saying, “Maybe he just feels Like going."
Jonathan was, after all, the CEO and could do what he wanted.
“He purchased Goldwald Company because he wanted to, and now he's taking me to see the partners because he wants to. It just doesn't make sense," Bethany argued. She wasn't expected to believe that things were just as they seemed.
Brody spread out his palms helplessly.
"I just delivered his message. Perhaps you should ask him yourself. I believe Mr. Bates would be quite eager to answer your question,” he suggested.
Bethany looked quite desperate to escape the situation as she walked over to Brody. “He and I are divorced. It's not right for both of us to stay together. I know he listens to you. Please talk him out of it."
