Chapter: 588
Perhaps Brody had a point; she needed to regard him simply as another new boss.

Tonight, she'd write her resignation letter, submit it tomorrow, and bid farewell to Bates Group in six months. After all, she couldn't outmaneuver him, and had to play by the rules.

While she was deep in thought, she heard footsteps approaching from behind.

Her muscles tensed involuntarily, freezing her in place.

Jonathan, in stark contrast, remained composed, his presence flawless.

He strode up confidently, towering over her. "Get in the car."

"Okay."

Bethany chose not to argue with him, knowing it would be futile.

The car sped away. Inside, the silence was so deafening that she found herself focusing on Jonathan's breathing.

Finally, he spoke up. “Did you review the project material?"

"Yes, but I didn't have much time, so I haven't gotten a complete grasp of it yet."

“That's enough for now. Take it home tonight for a thorough review."

Bethany nodded and then looked out the window, suddenly realizing they were on the route to East Shade Bay.

“Aren't we supposed to be meeting the partners?" she asked in confusion.

Why were they heading to Jonathan's house?

Glancing at her through the rearview mirror, Jonathan replied, “I need to stop there first to sort out my son's lunch before our meeting."

Bethany was rendered speechless.

His son?

Rowan!

Bethany immediately became alert, realizing this was probably Jonathan's first test for her.

Bethany knew Jonathan had an ulterior motive when he summoned her back to Bates Group. From day one, he couldn't resist dragging her to see Rowan, hoping to unearth clues.

Recognizing this, Bethany reminded herself to stay vigilant around him, aware that traps could be lurking anywhere.

She hoped Rowan wouldn't blow their cover.

And she longed to see her son to ensure he was alright.
